Actually I do not reject the computer at all and alsoenjoy its every kind of convenience. But every timewhen I want to write to my closet people,I would liketo use a pen.Because I firmly believe that charactershave their life and emotion. When writing, one part ofmy life is taking away with it.But typing is like hiring people to write for you.It is separated bysomething just like although you can clearly hear the breath of the addressee, some words youjust can"t say them out at all.At last you have to write with the help of pen and paper. It is somagic that different formats and different tools will influence the difference of context.

Should one expect a reward when doing a good deed

2. 有人认为应该像雷锋那样做好事不图回报;

When asked about whether or not one should expect a reward when doing a good deed, different people hold different views. Some argue that there should be a reward for a good deed. They explain that without proper and proportionate reward, those who have done good deeds may sometimes find themselves in various dilemmas. For example, in order to help the needed, they often have to sacrifice a large part of their own income and even get lost of the days in poverty.

However, others counter that we should learn from Lei Feng to help others, without ever asking for any reward. According to them, helping others is, in fact, an indispensable part of our virtues, so we are obligated to help those in trouble. Besides, if we can all help each other, we can also do our bits to build up a harmonious society.

As for me, it‘ s neither good nor bad to expect a reward when doing a good deed. What really * is that we should, first of all, take the initiative to help, instead of clinging to the worldly principle that "no reward, no offer".

A Letter of Suggestion to the President

Dear president, As a student of this university, I feel that it would be beneficial to express my views concerning the quality of the library service and unveil some of the existing problems in the library.

In the first place, we often exhaust our patience to look for books and journals related to our major on the shelves crammed with outdated shabby books.

Secondly, we all suffer the dim light and the absence of air conditioner in the reading room.

Worse still, the search engine in the library system often skips some valuable materials

and most keyboards of the library com*rs are in poor operation, which brings much inconvenience to the users.

Here are some feasible suggestions for your reference.

First of all, the library needs to improve its efficiency of purchasing new books and subscribing to academic journals.

On the other hand, the study rooms may be furnished with a better lighting system.

Last but not least, I would recommend the library system should be updated and the keyboards should be replaced with new ones.

I hope that you take my suggestions into serious consideration and make reforms in the library, so the library may take a new look as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Li Ming

  The General House Effect

The green house effect is not a new phenomenon. Scientists have known for centuries that a layer of gases naturally surrounds the earth like an insulating blanket, trapping the reflected energy of the sun and preventing it from escaping into space that is what makes the earth warm enough for people, plants and animals. However, recent human activity has boosted concentrations of greenhouse gases and enhanced their heat-trapping ability. The man culprit is carbon dioxide which scientists estimate accounts for nearly half of global warming.Co2 is released from burning fossil fuels and from clearing and burning forests.

There are other important greenhouse gases too and they cannot be ignored. CFCs, for example, may account for 25 per cent of global warming in the text century if their production is not scaled back. But carbon dioxide is the pivotal one. The UN International panel on Climatic Change now says that Co2 levels could double within in 40 years if present rates of fossil-fuel burning and deforestation continue. That means an average temperature increase between two and four degrees centigrade and a sea-level rise of perhaps a foot by 2050.

No one knows for certain how local weather will change as a result of this warming. But one thing is clear-it will be no picnic. Indications are that the earth will be take place not over thousands of years, but over decades. And it is the speed of the change, which makes the precise impact so difficult to predict.

The most sophisticated computerized climate models in the US and UK , agree that weather around the world will become more irregular and more extreme. In general, temperatures will become more towards the poles than at the equator. overall rainfall will also increase as higher temperatures boost evaporation from the seas. But the distribution of precipitation will shift. Some areas will become wetter, others will be drier. In middle latitudes, Climate zones will march poles-wards. In tropical and subtropical parts of the third would, warming will be less but the impact on a relatively stable climate will be greater.

Global warming will also cause ocean levels to rise---though not, as popular wisdom has it, due to the Antarctic ice cap melting. If this catastrophe occurs it will not be for at least another century. Instead, sea levels will rise sim* because water expands as it warms. people living in low-lying coastal regions will be in danger. The world’s great river deltas, home to millions in Asia and Latin America and containing some of the Third World’s richest food-growing land, could become brackish graveyards.

  6. Which gas is the most responsible for global warming?

  A. Carbon Dioxide.

  B. CFCs.

  C. Green houses.

  D. other gases in the atmosphere.

  7. What will happen if man continues to burn fossil fuels and forests at present rates?

  A. All fossil fuels, like coal, oil and gas, will run out.

  B. Deforestation will give rise to the loss of co2.

  C. The temperature will increase two to four degrees Fahrenheit.

  D. The rise of sea-level will reach about a foot by 2050.

  8. Why is the precise impact the global warming will exert on local weather hard to predict?

  A. Because the great changes in temperature will take place in just decades.

  B. Because the course of changes will last thousands of years.

  C. Because people are not sure whether the earth will be warmer than before.

  D. Because there are many other factors involved in this change.

  9. Which of the following is true according to the passage?

  A. The earth, as a whole, will become much wetter.

  B. The temperature around equator will rise more than around the poles.

  C. The amount of rainfall will be the same from place to place.

  D. The weather around the world will be more unusual in the next few decades.

  10. It can be concluded that

  A. The rise of ocean levels is due to the Antarctic ice cap melting.

  B. The temperature increase will take a gradual course.

  C. Human beings will have to suffer more from environmental damage.

  D. Without greenhouse gases the earth would be extremely hot.

The most immediate benefit of extracurricular activities is to the participants’ studies. Spending an appropriate amount of time participating in sports, clubs or volunteer work can actually be an excellent way for students to relieve everyday stress. Students who are less stressed out will naturally be happier and healthier. In turn, they will be able to work more efficiently and effectively in their studies and attain better results. In addition, participation in extracurricular activities will also assist university students in their careers after graduation. Increasingly, employers seeking job applicants are not interested solely in students with a high GPA. Many companies also consider involvement in other activities when assessing which applicants are most qualified for the position because extracurricular activities also enable students to improve their communication, leadership and teamwork skills, which are important skills that they will need to succeed in their careers. Last but not least, students who take part in activities after school will learn how to live a more balanced and fulfilling life. As the saying goes, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” In other words, those who do noting else but work or study all day will become bored, uninspired, and apathetic towards life. Extracurricular activities can give students a greater appreciation for sports, hobbies and community service, and help them become healthier and more well-rounded individuals.

While academics are obviously important, it is neither necessary or advisable for students to spend on hundred percent of their time on their books. University students who devote some of their time and energy to extracurricular activities will be doing a service to their studies, their careers, and even their future life.

With rapid development of com*r technology, making friends online has become a hotspot among people, and people’s views about it vary from individual to individual.

As for me, I would like to make friends in the real life rather than make friends online. Firstly, it is a waste of time to spend too much time in chatting online, and we have no enough time in studying. What’s worse, it does great harm to our health. Secondly the Internet is virtual, and there are all kinds of people in the virtual world. We are likely to be cheated. As a consequence, it will do damage to our property and emotion. Last but not the least, the over-reliance on it will bring about psychological problems. For one thing, we will ignore our real parents and friends. Actually, we are becoming lonely. For another, we may avoid facing the fact.

In a word, I don’t think that it is wise to make friends online. As an old saying goes great minds think alike, friends are the people who share happy and sorrow with you, not only chat.

Nowadays it is a very common phenomenon that some university students are late for oreven absent from classes. And still there are some students who slip out of the classroombefore the class is over. Class attendance has become a thorny problem to both the studentsand teachers。

In fact, it is very important for the students to attend their classes regularly. First, it willensure you to catch up with the teachers in your learning. That is very helpful to you if youwant to do a good job in your study. Second, attending classes regularly is a way of showingrespect to your teachers ,too. Your teachers will feel bad if the students do not attend theirclasses, which, in turn, will affect their teaching and be no good for the students. Third, attending classes regularly will help to form a good habit of punctuality, which is of greatimportance for the students to do a good job in the future。

Therefore, we university students should form the good habit of attending our classesregularly from now on. And some day we’ll benefit from it.Universities provide students with an environment in which to learn, mature and began to realize their potential. While some students maintain a rigid, singular focus on their studies — the next exam, essay or assignment — others engage in a variety of extracurricular activities out side the classroom.

What can be inferred from the passage? What can be concluded from the passage?

It can be inferred from the passage that____.

A)killing foxes with poison is illegal

B)limiting the fox population is unnecessary

C)hunting foxes with dogs is considered cruel and violent

D)fox-hunting often leads to confrontation between the poor and the rich

正确答案选择C,而原文相关信息是:┄ because they think it is brutal(残酷的) ┄(原文已经给出brutal的含义)。
